“I live and breathe family law, child custody battles, divorces that I have won, for not only my own child, but for my clients.  It is worth every challenge to never give up for the ones who have no legal voice…our children”

Mississippi Family Law – Attorney Matthew S. Poole

“Do one thing, and do it well”.   Are you seeking an experienced attorney who specializes in complex family law matters such as child custody or divorce? Have you noticed that so many attorneys claim expertise in multiple unrelated legal matters? Matthew is a staunch advocate for the success of his clients and steadfastly believes that all litigants deserve an attorney who avoids multiple practice areas to the detriment of expertise and client results. Too often, attorneys are forced to practice in multiple areas such as family law, criminal law, injury litigation, and the list goes on much further for some. The real reason for the commonality in these forms is that they lack the caseload, and thus the expertise, to have a firm grasp of the complexity of family law. That is not the case at The Law Office of Matthew Poole. Opening his solo practice in 2005, Matthew has been involved in hundreds of contested family law matters that resulted in litigation against top competitors from across the state. In sum, his best solitary piece of advice to those seeking a domestic attorney is to avoid those attorneys who lack requisite trial experience and practice in multiple arenas without having the necessary expertise.

Our firm routinely handles these civil cases in the various Chancery Courts of Mississippi. From Hinds, Rankin, and Madison Counties to the far Northern corners of our great state all the way to the expanse of the Mississippi gulf coast, Matthew Poole works diligently with his law clerks, Kenneth Davis (J.D. Mississippi College School of Law, 2017) and Tyler Cox (J.D. candidate, Mississippi College School, 2018) to provide aggressive representation in family law matters. Our sole focus is divorce (including no-fault), child custody and custody modification, contempt of court, visitation issues, annulments as well as adoption and termination of parental rights cases based upon abuse and neglect.

Matthew Poole was admitted to practice in 2004 after graduating from the University of Mississippi School of Law. During law school, Matthew was honored to be chosen as a finalist in the Steen, Reynolds, and Dalehite Trial Competition after posting an undefeated record in front of juries, tallying a record of 4 wins with zero losses. Matthew is licensed to practice in the Northern and Southern District Mississippi Federal Courts as well as the Federal 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. He has extensive trial experience and has served as the Law Clerk to the Mississippi Attorney General in the Executive Division where he acted as a policy advisor and litigation consultant. He has served as associate trial counsel at one of the state’s largest and most coveted medical malpractice, nursing home, and pharmaceutical defense firms. He has represented individuals and multiple Fortune 500 companies with the same degree of efficacy.

Matthew is a single father with sole physical and legal custody of his son, Lucas, who was born in 2009. He is particularly sensitive to the needs of single parents, both mothers and fathers alike. He feels strongly that the market for attorneys is not always conducive to the best interests of clients, a fact that does not demonstrate the ideals of justice which we all-both attorneys and everyday Americans- hold dear. He is familiar with nearly every Chancery Court judge in Mississippi, having handled hundreds of domestic matters since his admission to practice in 2004. If you are looking for a family law firm with a robust combination of character, expertise, and attitude, look no further than the Law Office of Matthew Poole.
